Magic Item Attunement

Any magical item that continually grants the user the benefit of an edge/attribute increase/skill bonus/power without requiring a skill roll to activate will use a resource called Attunement which reflects a user’s ability to utilize multiple enchantments. The Attunement rating of an item is 2 per edge, 2 per attribute increase, 1 per skill bonus, and 1 per power rank doubled on raised spells. A characters Maximum Attunement is equal to the lesser of their Agility or Smarts die type. Once a character reaches their Maximum Attunement they can’s focus or handle any more. If additional Attunement is incurred, the user suffers a level of constant Fatigue equal to the amount they’ve exceeded their maximum. No one can exceed their Max Attunement by more than two points. Additionally characters may take a new edge Artifice Affinity (Background) that increases the individual’s Maximum Attunement by +4. See Strain SFC29 for comparison.

Additional notes:
Enchantment armores bonus and weapon damage bonuses don’t have Attunement rating. The Armor power and Smite power cost normal per power rank.
Use activated items and consumables don’t have Attunement rating because they require an action to activate.
Custom wondrous items need the appropriate Attunement rating listed in the description.
